Save Your Sanity

We empower educators with practical advice and a supportive community to navigate the challenges of the modern classroom. Empowering teachers, one tip at a time.

Tip of the Week

"You're not going to be perfect. I think of it like this: I'm a middle school English teacher, not Jesus. If I was Jesus, I'd sit at home all day turning water into wine. - Karen"

The Guide to Teacher Well-being

Empowering educators with practical strategies to navigate the modern classroom and reclaim their sanity.

Connections Make the Difference

Having a connection with a student, even if just a "high five" ritual as they walk in the door changes the dynamic enough to make the student feel safe and ready to learn.

You are important too

Instead of it always being "all about the children," remember that if you don't take care of yourself, you'll have nothing left when it comes to your students.

Use Parents as Partners

If you are scared to contact early and wait until the student is out of control, you and the parent are both doing triage.  Instead, make them your partner as early as possible.

Community Corner

Join our collective of educators sharing tips, struggles, and wins. We are here to support each other through every lesson.

Don't panic if a lesson goes badly. A student isn't going to remember the lesson on capitalization, rational numbers, or poetic language. They will member that someone saw them and made them feel valued.

How to Donate

Let's be honest, asking people for money is awkward.

My goal with this site has always been to help teachers, especially new teachers who are already spending enough money on classroom supplies, student incentives, and the occasional stress-induced drive-thru meal.

That's why I keep as much of this content free as possible. The articles, tips, classroom strategies, and resources here are things I've learned over more than thirty years in the classroom, usually through trial, error, and occasionally spectacular failure.

If something on this site has saved you time, reduced your stress level, or helped you avoid making one of the mistakes I already made for you, and you'd like to help support the project, donations are always appreciated.

Your support helps cover website costs and gives me more time to create new content, resources, and courses that can remain available to teachers who need them.

If you're not in a position to donate, that's perfectly fine too. Read the articles, use the resources, and pass the site along to someone who might find it helpful.

And if you're wondering where the money goes, it mostly goes toward website expenses, coffee, and reducing the chances that I'll have to start an OnlyFans for lesson plans.

Nobody wants that.
